Yes. State law and field ethics require social workers, counselors and other professionals to maintain a strict level of confidentiality. Staff members will share your personal information or any part of your conversations with anyone else. Staff members will not divulge information about a student's sexual orientation, STD status, pregnancy, sexual activity, political ideology, religious beliefs (or lack thereof), sexual history, criminal history, health, drug use or other personal matter without the expressed consent of the student.
Students and parents should also be aware that if a student makes a threatening statement about another person or threats to hurt himself (or herself), all staff members would be required by law to report the incident.

AP (advance placement) courses are college level courses that areoffered to high school students. These courses can be used by students to acquire college credits and/or advance placement within a college or university. These institutions are know to give considerable weight to grades administered in AP courses. The College Board, a non-profit organization, runs the AP program.
