Mr. Stanton teaches math and social studies with the Tribal Scholars Program at KIC's Stedman Street building every morning. He then comes to Kayhi every afternoon to work with his 5th and 6th period NSSS (Native Student Support Services) study hall classes.
Students use their time during NSSS to get homework done, catch up on missing assignments, and improve their grades. Mr. Stanton loves learning about the past, listening to students' plans for life after high school, and helping with math homework, along with anything else students need.
Mr. Stanton also loves coaching Ketchikan High School's Academic Decathlon team. He was a decathlete himself for all four years at Kayhi and he's been coach since 2014.
Mr. Stanton grew up in Ketchikan and graduated from Kayhi in 2009. Here he is hanging out with some puffins at Stórhöfði, Heimaey, located in Iceland's Vestmannaeyjar (Westman Islands).
